Picking up where Wake Up Sleepyhead left off, the most recent Spyglass CD Strategies for the Stranded delivers sultry female vocals floating atop a bed of thick, interweaving guitars, piano, organ and strings. Recorded at the roomy Lang Studios outside of Seattle, it's a big dimensional sound with plenty of moody layers. Rockpile magazine gave the new CD 4 stars, comparing it to Radiohead. And while they are often compared to the other head -- Portishead -- it's Spyglass' swirling concoction of alluring female vocals and moody ambient layers that arouse.

Willamette Week says "The Spyglass sound -- secretive female vocals harvested from the fields of 4AD Records, then dipped in an effects drenched guitar marinade and simmered over the low flame of a warm beat -- is, by turns, coquettish and climatic, but always aims to seduce."

NEW RECORD COMING IN OCTOBER 2006

In October 2006, Spyglass singer Barbara Trentalange releases her solo record Photo Album of Complex Relationships on Coco Tauro Records. Lush, moody and provocative, the songs on Photo Album... are cinematic soundscapes built upon instrumentation that includes cello, piano, flute, bass and percussion, with Trentalage's voice - velvety and emotive - as the foundation and centerpiece.

Trentalange wrote, recorded and performed the vast majority of the album herself. Members of Crooked Fingers, Spyglass and Head Like a Kite added flourishes before Trentalange joined producer Martin Feveyear (Rosie Thomas, The Dark Fantastic) and drummer Mark Pickerel (Screaming Trees, Neko Case, Brandi Carlisle) at Seattle's Jupiter Studios to add the finishing touches of drums and vocals.
